Caipirinha

On a night as stressful as this (Election Day 2016), two drinks are in order. What better way to beat the anxiety of a Trump victory than enjoying this delicious Brazilian drink. Their national drink features cachaça, a fruity clear liquor made from sugarcane. It is sometimes referred to as "Brazilian rum", but it has a distinctly different taste than rum. My favorite brand is Leblon.

Ingredients
1/2 lime, cut into two
1/2 teaspoon sugar
2 ounces cachaca
Old-fashioned glass

Instructions
  1. Muddle lime in a cocktail shaker with the sugar.
  2. Add a few ice cubes and pour in the cachaça.
  3. Pour into glass.
Makes 1 drink.
